Hector In On Loan

30 January 2013

Reading defender Michael Hector will join the Robins on loan.

Reading's young central defender Michael Hector will join Cheltenham Town on loan for an initial month following the completion of paperwork this evening.

Michael, 20, will complete the loan move tonight before Reading host Chelsea in the Premier League at the Madejski Stadium. Michael will be involved this weekend when Torquay United are Cheltenham's opponents and he follows Luke McCullough, Jason Taylor and Paul Benson into the club.

"Michael has been on our radar for a while," said Mark Yates.

"We are delighted to have brought him here because we've been monitoring him for a while. We liked what we saw of him last season with Barnet and a good friend of mine, Ian Foster, recommended him as a decent defender from when he was at Dundalk. He is 6 foot 3/4, quick, mobile and strong."

Michael started out with Thurrock youth before being signed up by Reading's academy structure. Loan deals with Havant & Waterloovile, Bracknell Town and Dundalk followed before he was handed a professional deal in 2010.

He played for Barnet during the 2011-12 season and he made 31 appearances for the Bees, scoring twice. He also won Barnet's young player of the year award before joining Shrewsbury on a six month loan deal. This season has has played for Aldershot in npower League Two too.
