FOCUS ON: Yeovil Town

16 February 2017

A detailed look into Saturday's opponents

This weekend sees us host Gary Johnson’s former side Yeovil Town as we look to bounce back from two defeats in a row.

The Glovers, meanwhile, will be aiming to keep their slim play off hopes alive following three successive 1-1 draws that has seen them slip to 16th place in the League Two table.

They are currently managed by former Yeovil player Darren Way, who has been in charge for just over a year after the sacking of Paul Sturrock.

They spent the majority of their history in non-league before they first played in the Football League under our current Gaffer, when he won the FA Trophy and promotion to League Two at the start of the century.

It then took them just two more seasons to get up to League One as they won League Two in 2005, though Johnson then moved on to take over at Bristol City.

Yeovil then remained in the third tier for six seasons under Russell Slade and then Terry Skiverton before Johnson returned in January 2012 to firstly keep the club in the division, and then take them up to the Championship through the play offs in 2013.

But the club were only in the league for one season as they suffered an immediate relegation back down to League One, before they then went down again with Johnson being replaced by Sturrock.

This is now their second consecutive season back in League Two after they finished 19th last time around.

We’ve faced them once already this campaign, back in September, when The Glovers claimed all three points thanks to goals from Otis Khan, Darren Ward, Matt Dolan and Tom Eaves - with Aaron Downes and Billy Waters replying for The Robins.

Overall we have played Yeovil 12 times since 2002, winning four, drawing four and losing the other four.
